  • Channel Hop: After its production company Cinestate went out of business amidst a sexual assault scandal, the film was picked up by The Daily Wire, a right-wing news website owned by Ben Shapiro, as the first film it ever distributed.
  • Troubled Production: The film was caught up in the scandal that destroyed its production company Cinestate, which had by that point become notorious in the Dallas indie film scene for unsafe working conditions. Many crew members walked off the set for various reasons, particularly the sexual harassment allegations swirling around producer Adam Donaghey, who would later be arrested for the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl — and given that the film took place in a high school and had hundreds of teenagers as extras, his presence on set was especially worrying for the crew, for whom the allegations were an Open Secret even before the arrest. The opening hunting scene, which involved the killing of an actual deer, was also filmed in violation of Texas film and hunting regulations, with Donaghey belittling a hair and makeup artist who voiced concerns about the scene (and who quit her job the next day in response).
