Trivia / Return to Never Land

  • Fake Brit:
    • Kath Soucie as Wendy.
    • Corey Burton as Captain Hook.

  • The Other Darrin:
    • Due to the Sequel Gap of almost 50 years. It's especially evident with the Lost Boys; no one except Slightly sounds anything like they did in the original film.
    • In the Japanese dub, Captain Hook is voiced by Naoya Uchida rather than Chikao Ohtsuka who did his voice in the original movie's theatrical 1984 dub. Also, Peter Pan is voiced by Yū Hayashi instead of Mitsuo Iwata.

    • While the Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish dubs sees Captain Hook's voice actors from the original film's 1990s Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish redubs reprising the same role, Peter Pan on the other hand is voiced by different actors, though Anders Öjebo, his voice actor from the original film's Swedish 1992 dub, returned to voice someone else.
  • The Other Marty: Kathryn Beaumont, who voiced Wendy in Peter Pan, has claimed that Disney originally hired her to voice adult Wendy in Return to Never Land. However, after they rewrote Return to Never Land, they had Kath Soucie voice adult Wendy, as opposed to asking Beaumont to record new dialogue.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Corey Burton had been a big fan and student of Hans Conried (the original Hook).
  • Serendipity Writes the Plot: Due to the growing backlash over the racist portrayal in the first film, the Indian tribe don't appear here.
  • What Could Have Been:

    • As mentioned above, Kathryn Beaumont was initially brought back to voice Wendy again, but was ultimately replaced with Kath Soucie. Had she been mantained in the role, Beaumont would have been the only star of the original film to reprise her role in the sequel.
    • An abandoned subplot had Tinker Bell receive the poison cake that the pirates attempted feeding the Lost Boys in JM Barrie's Peter Pan. The writers deemed this irrelevant to Jane's arc, and instead had Tink almost killed by Jane's declaration that she doesn't believe in fairies.
    • Corey Burton was going to voice Smee as well, but midway through production Jeff Bennett took over so he could focus on voicing Captain Hook.
    • Early toys based on the film featured Jane wearing just her lavender nightgown on Never Land while in the finished film she wears a purple sweater over it. This possibly suggests that the decision to have Jane wearing her sweater over her nightgown came very late in production.

    • Captain Hook and his crew would have had an entire musical number in the third act, "I'll Give You One Guess", in which they celebrate their capture of Peter and express their excitement to continue regular piracy.
