Trivia / Ratchet & Clank: Going Mobile!

Go To

For Going Mobile!:

  • B-Team Sequel: Going Mobile! was developed by Handheld Games, who reported directly to Sony. According to former developer Brad Higgins, Insomniac had declined to be involved with the project in any capacity.
  • Executive Meddling: A minor example; Sony did not like the background art that Handheld Games had made for the Maktar Casino levels, so they instead drew up art of their own.
  • Disowned Adaptation: Besides the very light cross-compatibility between this game and Ratchet: Deadlocked, Insomniac has never acknowledged the existence of Going Mobile! and according to one developer turned down being involved with the game in any capacity.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The game isn't available for cell phones anymore, so emulators are the only way to play it now.
  • What Could Have Been:

For Clone Home:

  • B-Team Sequel: Or in this case, a C-Team Sequel; according to The Golden Bolt the cancelled follow-up was developed by a team other than Handheld Games, with Handheld having no involvement in the project. The team that developed the ill-fated game is currently unknown, although Brad Higgins speculates that Sony might've made it in-house.
  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends:
    • Due to the sequel being cancelled for unknown reasons, many fans assume it was scrapped due to being too similar to the PSP installment Size Matters - namely due to both games involving the duo shrinking down in size and fighting clones - to the point where some state this as fact. However, there is no evidence to support this claim nor has there ever been any official statement from any parties involved in the franchise that stated this to be the case. Adding onto this is the fact that Clone Home was revealed a month after Size Matters was, as it would make very little sense for Sony to reveal the former game if they figured it was too similar to the latter.
    • In recent years there have been claims that the cancelled sequel did receive a release in select regions before being quickly taken down, however there has been no confirmation of this and those who claim to have had the game have not provided any proof of such.
  • Screwed by the Network: Sony cancelled the sequel for seemingly no reason.
  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: According to a Javagrounds employee contacted by the Lost Media Wiki, the sequel Clone Home was fully finished but was cancelled at the last minute.
  • Vapor Ware: Clone Home was intended to launch in late 2006, but instead it got quietly cancelled and has never been seen in an official capacity since.
