  • Actor Allusion: When Narcisse offers to teach Lola archery, actress Anna Popplewell doesn't even pretend to not know exactly what she's doing with a bow, leaving us with a scene in which Haldir tries to give Queen Susan the Gentle some tips.
  • Dawson Casting:
    • Mary's supposed to be in her late teens. Her actress was 24-27 while filming the series.
    • Word of God says Francis is supposed to be in his mid teens. The actor was 23-25 while filming the series.
  • Fake Nationality:
    • Lord Castleroy is French. His actor, Michael Therriault is from Oakville, Ontario.
    • Stéphane Narcisse is also French, while Craig Parker is from New Zealand.
    • Both Adelaide Kane and Caitlin Stasey are Australian.
    • Queen Elizabeth of England is played by Canadian Rachel Skarsten.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The pilot episode became notorious for a scene that involved a supporting female character and masturbation. The scene in question was edited down by The CW prior to broadcast to be less explicit, to much media controversy. When the time came to release Season 1 on DVD, although an "online version" of a later episode - featuring a more explicit sex scene than broadcast - was included, the original version of the pilot wasn't released. Nor was it included in the later "complete series" edition, and there is no indication that any international broadcast featured the uncut episode. However, as noted by reviewers, the version of the pilot circulated to media did contain the complete scene, so copies of the original episode are in limited circulation.
  • Real-Life Relative:
    • Megan Follows's daughter Lyla guest starred as Greer's sister Ellen during the third season.
    • The child Greer carried for most her time onscreen of season 3 was obviously Celina Siden's own.
  • Romance on the Set: The most noticeable example is between Rossif Sutherland (Nostredame) and Celina Siden (Greer), who fell in love, got married, and have a son together.
  • Written-In Infirmity: Greer's pregnancy was written because of Celina Siden's own pregnancy.
  • Younger Than They Look: The show's mostly teenaged audience were quite disparaging towards Lord Castleroy and Lord Narcisse, calling them "old men". Amusingly, Michael Therriault (Castleroy) was 39 in his first appearance, while Craig Parker (Narcisse) was 43 - not quite the greybeards they were made out to be.
