Trivia / Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders

Go To

  • Dueling Shows: With Sailor Moon's English dub. Surprisingly enough, despite how Sailor Moon is much more popular today, Princess Gwenevere actually won in the ratings over Sailor Moon.
  • Follow the Leader: So much that many called this show a Sailor Moon "ripoff".
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The series has yet to come out on DVD and exists on scattered VHS tapes.
    • There was a DVD release in the United States (it was "region 0", but was still official) from Digiview Entertainment, but it contained only the first few episodes, some episodes were "mapped" to the wrong titles, and it ended up being the Starla version despite calling itself Princess Gwenevere. This same DVD was later "updated" to contain a couple more episodes. It has since gone out of print.
    • Actually, there were since then also various releases in the other countries (in their local languages), and as of 2010 the whole series in English (along with other BKN series) is now legally available for viewing for free at the website Kidlet.tv, but requires free registration. As of 2012 the show is also available on Netflix. Tubi TV also has the series available for streaming completely free, with ads.
  • Kids' Meal Toy: Long John Silver's sold a set of four toys for girls in 1995. These ran opposite fellow Amazin' Adventures show Skysurfer Strike Force for boys.
  • The Other Darrin: In the second season, Gwenevere was voiced by Jean Louisa Kelly due to Kerry Butler heading to Canada to do the musical for Beauty and the Beast.
  • Production Posse: The Mandell brothers got Rowley back. And Peter Fernandez to direct the voice acting. Fernandez got his old friend Corrine Orr. And they also got Laura Dean to voice one of the leads. It's a little surreal to watch this if you've seen Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers.
  • What Could Have Been: Tamara was originally named Harmony. Likewise, Sunstar was named Amber, and Ian was named Ranger. Some artwork and prototype toys exist of this early incarnation, variously called "Enchanted Camelot", "Enchanted Jewel Riders", and "Princess Gwenevere & Her Jewel Adventures"; its absolute earliest conception was as an animated Dragonriders of Pern series.
