Trivia / Pokemon S 14 E 22 A Venipede Stampede

• Retcon: In the original version of the episode, the episode ends with Ash, Iris, and Cilan accompanying Professor Juniper and Officer Jenny to the Desert Resort, which is the lead-in to the follow-up "Team Rocket VS Team Plasma" two parter that ended up not airing due to the 2011 earthquakes in Japan and later rendered irrelevant by the release of Black 2 & White 2. This ending is erased from the dub so that only Juniper and Jenny fly off to the Desert Resort while Ash prepares for his next Gym Battle, since the story that was to follow got removed from the continuity of the international dub's narrative. This is further shown when Looker and Team Plasma are "introduced" to our heroes far later on.
• What Could Have Been: This was meant to directly lead in to a special two-part story, "Team Rocket VS Team Plasma", which would have introduced Team Plasma into the plot in their original knight-inspired garb with their intention being to use the Meteonite to drive Pokemon all over Unova into frenzies so that they'd "liberate" themselves from trainers, with this being allegedly in service of "the hero", referring to N. Had these episodes been broadcast, Team Plasma's eventual reappearance would have advanced a much different arc than what we ultimately got in the Episode N arc. But since the episodes could not be broadcast before the release and promotion of Black 2 and White 2, the arc for Team Plasma and the incarnation of Team Plasma that got used was changed.
