  • Spin-Off:
    • Bananas in Pyjamas for the Australian version, based on a song segment shown on there.
    • Playdays for the British version, which was a sequel of sorts to Play School.
  • Before the 1999 revamp, episodes of the Australian version were recorded in one take.

  • Like Mister Rogers Neighborhood, Play School episodes in Australia are grouped in sets of 5, one for every weekday, with each set (or series) covering a specific theme. 9 sets of new episodes are made each year, with the remainder of the slots filled with reruns drawn from the past 7 years. Each year the oldest episodes are retired as new ones are made.

  • The Australian version had a tradition where occasionally, the live pianist would make an on camera appearance. Warren Carr, musical director from 1972 to 1993, was famous for this. After Warren's death in 1993, this tradition was carried on with subsequent musicians such as Max Lambert and Elliott Wilshier playing on camera.
