  • Development Gag: Despite the fact that the correct pronunciation of the English word "sigil" uses a soft "g" sound (like the "g" in "engine"), the correct in-universe pronunciation of the city name "Sigil" uses a hard "g" sound (like "giggle"). This is because one of the line editors at TSR during Planescape's development had never seen the word before and didn't know how it was pronounced. So he pronounced it incorrectly with a hard "g". And in true nerd fashion, the rest of the team thought it was hysterical and made it the canonical pronunciation.
  • Referenced by...: Rick and Morty (Oni) has a storyline named "Painscape" for its second comic miniseries. Rick & Morty is appropriately enough a show about travelling through different dimensions created by huge D&D nerds.
