• Write Who You Know: The title characters are loosely based on James Howe's younger self and a childhood friend of his—though Howe makes a point of mentioning that his own favorite color was never pink. Some of the events in the stories are inspired by his childhood experiences, for example the climax of Pinky and Rex and the School Play when Pinky saves the play.
