Trivia / Pelswick

Go To

  • Banned Episode: The pilot episode "Inherit the Wheeled" (the episode where a school camping trip is canceled out of concern for Pelswick's safety) never aired in America. This was supposedly because Nickelodeon found a scene where Pelswick imagines himself rolling away from a wolf and a fire in the woods before having his wheelchair hit a log and getting eaten by a bear to be too disturbing and violent.
  • Channel Hop: In Canada, from CBC to [adult swim] - a boast not every Nickelodeon show can brag.
  • The Danza: Julie is voiced by Julie Lemieux.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: FUNimation (of all companies) once held the home video rights to the series, but it was never released on DVD.
    • In the USA, the series is legally available for free on Tubi TV in English and Spanish, and for purchase on Amazon Instant Video. The French dub of season 2 is on Oznoz.
  • Same Content, Different Rating: In an incredibly bizarre move, in early 2021 reruns of the show were added to the Canadian version of [adult swim] with a 14+ rating (despite it chiefly being a kids' show). Additionally, Nelvana's official distribution catalogue currently places it among their adult content, alongside all of the actually adult-aimed cartoons they've made (initially they didn't treat it such, as before they updated their site, the show was not under Teen/Adults but Comedies one).
  • Screwed by the Network: Nickelodeon has been erasing Pelswick and his show out of their history and making reference to it every chance they get. There were even a few bumpers that exploited his unpopularity on Nicktoons TV. At the same time, it could be due to the show getting Screwed by the Lawyers—as soon as Nickelodeon lost the syndication rights to the show, everything went back to Nelvana and Nick couldn't legally do anything with the show anymore. Nick was supposedly planning to air it on The Splat on October 1st and 2nd, 2016, but replaced it with The Wild Thornberrys at the last minute.
    • The series got even worse treatment during its Saturday morning run on CBS as part of its Nickelodeon-themed block, as it only lasted two months before the show’s timeslot was taken over by coverage from NFL games. When the Nick on CBS block gained back the 11 AM hour in February 2003, Pelswick's old spot on the line-up was taken over by ChalkZone.
  • Technology Marches On: The "rewinding my CD" joke from "N'Talented" could only have been made in 2000, when cassette tapes had only just been rendered obsolete by compact discs and before they all but ceased being produced/used in the later half of the decade.
