- Acting for Two: Anne Hathaway plays both Daphne and... Anne Hathaway. This may be a nod to Ocean's Twelve in which Tess Ocean (played by Julia Roberts) was, at one point, forced to impersonate a celebrity she looked very similar to: Julia Roberts.
- All-Star Cast:
- As with the original trilogy, the titular team is pretty much an all-star team being led by two heavyweight actresses in Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett in the place of two heavyweight actors (George Clooney and Brad Pitt). Then there's everyone who cameos at the Met Gala as themselves, from Serena Williams to Anna Wintour.
- The Japanese dub is not behind on this either: So far, we have Takako Honda (Debbie), Yuko Kaida (Daphne), Rie Kugimiya (Amita), Mie Sonozaki (Tammy), Urara Takano (Rose), Akio Ōtsuka (Claude), among others.
- B-Team Sequel: The film is a spinoff sequel to the Ocean's Eleven trilogy. Director Steven Soderbergh, composer David Holmes, and most of the trilogy's cast did not return.
- The Cast Showoff:
- Sandra Bullock speaks German fluently (she has a German mother and she grew up in Germany and Austria before building her career in the USA). It's worked into the plot as Debbie uses the language to render her fake German journalist identity even more convincing when infiltrating the Met Gala.
- Likewise, Helena Bonham Carter speaks fluent French, so she converses with Cartier's French head in his native tongue.
- Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: Many online critics will cite this movie as an example of an all-female ensemble film bombing at the box office... which it didn't. They're just lumping it in with Ghostbusters, since both had similar reactions from portions of the established fanbases. Ocean's 8 cost half of Ghostbusters, and grossed $68 million more than Ghostbusters worldwide, it was very much profitable.
- Deleted Role: Matt Damon and Carl Reiner filmed scenes reprising their roles, but these were cut in post-production for time. Damian Lewis also filmed some scenes, but his character was cut.
- Fake Irish: London native Helena Bonham Carter plays the Irish Rose with a fairly reasonable accent.
- Meaningful Release Date: The film was released on June 8. It was released in Japan in August, the eighth month.
- Playing Against Type:
- Anne Hathaway plays a shallow, bitchy socialite, a far cry from her usual sympathetic, lovely roles, although her character does gain a fair amount of sympathy by the time the end credits roll.
- Helena Bonham Carter, the patron saint of Eerie Pale Skinned Brunettes, playing a character who is not only sane (if somewhat neurotic) and relatively friendly but also blonde.
- Starring a Star as a Star: Anne Hathaway as movie star Daphne Kluger.
- What Could Have Been:
- Jennifer Lawrence was originally cast as Daphne Kluger.
- Elizabeth Banks was approached for the role of Tammy but had to drop out.
