  • David Johansen, who re-branded himself Buster Poindexter and scored a hit with "Hot, Hot, Hot."

• Creator Backlash: David Johansen, working under the pseudonym Buster Poindexter, scored a massive solo hit in 1987 with "Hot Hot Hot", an upbeat pop song with a conga beat. Its endurance as a karaoke/wedding/cruise ship staple lead Johansen to describe it as "the bane of my existence" in a later interview with National Public Radio.
• Promoted Fanboy: Sami Yaffa, of Hanoi Rocks fame.
• Referenced by...: When forming the band Japan, the Batt brothers took their Stage Names from two New York Dolls members. Stephen Batt became Steve Jansen, after David Johansen, and David Batt became David Sylvian after Sylvain Sylvain.
