Trivia / Myth-O-Mania

Go To

  • Creator's Favorite Episode: Kate McMullan has called Phone Home, Persephone! her favorite Myth-O-Mania book, at least among the first eight.
  • Cut Song: In the Hyperion version of Nice Shot, Cupid!, Hades recalls during the epilogue that Cupid and Psyche sang "I Got You, Babe" at their wedding, and that the "mortal" version from Sonny & Chernote  couldn't compare. The Stone Arch version of the book omits this reference.
  • Development Hell: Among the three books Hades teased at the end of Go For the Gold, Atalanta!, the one about Jason and the Argonauts still currently remains unfinished. The other two, recounting the events of the Trojan War and The Odyssey, were Saved from Development Hell 10-11 years after the release of Atalanta's book. In-universe, reasons given for the delay of the Jason volume include Hades' publisher prioritizing other books over Myth-O-Manianote , Cassandra warning Hades that it would make a poor-selling follow-up to Hit the Road, Helen!, and Hades wanting a break from seafaring accounts after Get Lost, Odysseus!
  • Follow the Leader: Reportedly, Stone Arch Books reprinted and uncancelled Myth-O-Mania to ride off the success of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which also put a new spin on Classical Mythology.
  • Technology Marches On: Hades expresses amazement at Persephone's small, cordless cell phone (to the extent that he later buys one himself), even though its brass structure and visible antenna make it sound more primitive than a smartphone. Either way, it still seems anachronistic for a story about ancient Greek gods.
  • What Could Have Been: One of Kate McMullan's early attempts at updating Greek Myths included Olympus Elementary, which would have featured the Olympians as grade-school students. However, the unpublished stories apparently proved less funny in execution than in concept.
