* IKnewIt:
** The fanbase predicted that All Might and Midoriya's Quirk, One For All, would have an EvilCounterpart called "All For One". Its power was predicted to be stealing other Quirks. In Chapters 57 and 59, this was proved correct.
** Despite being voiced by Creator/YuichiroUmehara in the VOMIC, many had thought that for the anime adaptation Bakugo would be voiced by Creator/NobuhikoOkamoto. They ended up being right when his casting announcement came around.
** For the ''Vigilantes'' spin-off, a few readers predicted that [[spoiler:Knuckle-Duster was Quirkless]].
** Many have predicted that Toga [[spoiler:has a shape-shifting Quirk and that she was posing as Camie during the Provisional Hero License Exam Arc.]]
** Several readers had guessed correctly that [[spoiler:Eri's real father is the previous Hassaikai boss. Though this was subverted when Chapter 156 adds that the previous Hassaikai boss is Eri's grandfather.]]
** While this was more of a joke among fans than anything, quite a few guessed correctly that part of the reason why Hawks hired Tokoyami as an intern is because both are bird-themed heroes. Hawks says this is 20% of the reason of the hiring.
** Going back to when the explanation of what One For All is and how it came to be was given, many fans speculated that anyone with a Quirk before receiving One For All would also pass on that original Quirk as well. This is confirmed in Chapter 213.
** Although it was more of a crack theory than anything, some fans correctly guessed that [[spoiler: Kurogiri is Aizawa's deceased best friend, Oboro Shirakumo, that was brought back to life by All For One.]]
** Pretty much everyone and their mothers foresaw the reveal that Dabi [[spoiler:is Toya Todoroki, Endeavor’s long-thought deceased son]].
** Many people theorized that Doctor Tsubasa and Kyudai Garaki were the same person, and eventually they were proven right.

* TrendKiller: The anime adaptation was the nail in the coffin on the trend of continuous anime adaptations of shounen manga. Prior to it, long-running shounen manga like ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'' and ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'' were aired non-stop; while it kept the franchises always visible, the anime quality was never great and it resulted in a lot of filler arcs. ''My Hero Academia'', in counterpart, decided to make its adaptation seasonal, with once-a-year releases of a season adapting a group of arcs, which ended up better paced, better animated, and with almost no filler; the format was also better suited for binge-watching, which had become popular by the time the anime came out. Subsequent big shounen titles like ''Manga/JujutsuKaisen'' and ''Manga/DemonSlayerKimetsuNoYaiba'' all followed this format, while the former trend of adapting was left behind.

Authors Saving Throw requires Word Of God confirmation

** The anime's adaptation of the U.A. Sports Festival Arc basically did this for Yaoyorozu by actually showing off her overwhelming loss to Tokoyami, which was only a single uninformative panel in the manga. This was due to Horikoshi discovering that the length of the arc was ballooning from what he originally intended and cut out some things intentionally because they were one-stroke battles and having them all chew up pages in weekly chapter format would let down the readers. However, while nearly all of the fights Horikoshi cut out are inconsequential, Yaoyorozu's defeat has lasting consequences. Originally, many readers of the manga felt that her broken confidence in the Final Exams Arc came out of nowhere since they never got to see what it was that turned her into a BrokenAce.
** For the Bakugo vs. Uraraka fight in the manga, many fans didn't understand why the crowd suddenly turned on the former for full-on attacking the latter despite there being four mixed-sex battles beforehand. This was because the manga didn't show enough to justify this reaction. In the anime, it's shown that the previous fights were a lot more even and in two of them, the girls won pretty easily.[[note]]The notable exception is the Iida vs. Hatsume "fight", which is nothing more than a glorified sales pitch for the latter.[[/note]] In the Tokoyami vs. Yaoyorozu fight, it's shown that the former deliberately attacked in a way that would get the latter out of the ring without hurting her. In Bakugo's case, it appears that he has a significant advantage over Uraraka. However, since he doesn't go for a quick ring out, the crowd assumes that he's just taking pleasure in hurting someone who is weaker than him.

** The Internship Arc collected several complaints about it being "not very ''MHA''-like" and Overhaul for being a bland boring villain, with Horikoshi admitting that it had a very experimental structure and he was trying an arc more like a typical shōnen than his usual Western-inspired structure. The U.A. Cultural Festival Arc has since been labeled as a return to form for the manga, with a nice focus on the SliceOfLife aspect of U.A., more comic moments, better paced and a far more interesting villain than the HateSink Overhaul in the form of the AffablyEvil Gentle and his GenkiGirl sidekick La Brava.
** A common complaint is that Horikoshi introduces many interesting characters, only to ignore them, instead preferring to add more new characters. Notable examples of this include Shinso, who became a major EnsembleDarkhorse but was relegated to infrequent cameos after the U.A. Sports Festival Arc, and all of Class 1-B, who are mostly forgotten about in favor of Class 1-A. The Joint Training Arc gives both Shinso and all of Class 1-B ADayInTheLimelight, with Shinso, in particular, being given a chance to join the Hero Course if he performs well enough (a popular FandomSpecificPlot). This was later expanded to give time even for less important Class 1-A characters to shine, which include Kaminari showing he is smarter than what people give him credit for, flashbacks of Tokoyami's time working under Hawks and Yaoyorozu's newfound rivalry with Kendo.
** Many complained that Midoriya beating Shinso in the U.A. Sports Festival Arc was an AssPull since there was no explanation given as to why One For All activated on its own and broke him out Shinso's mind control. The Joint Training Arc would later explain that [[spoiler:vestiges of past One For All users still inhabit the Quirk, which is why One For All seemingly activated on its own]], which regardless of opinions on if it works or not, at least explains the situation.
** At the end of the Joint Training Arc, many feared Midoriya would become extremely overpowered, resulting in the loss of tension for the rest of the story. [[spoiler:This was due to the revelation that Midoriya inherited six additional Quirks thanks to One For All. However, the following arc showcases the BigBad, Shigaraki, evolving his own Quirk, which has enough power to turn an entire city block into a deserted crater, gathering an army, and recruiting Gigantomachia. Due to these factors, many fans fear that Midoriya might be too ''underpowered'' now]]. Likewise, in Chapter 257, [[spoiler:Bakugo and All Might conclude that none of the One For All users' original Quirks were all that powerful on their own, which was why none of them could defeat All For One]].
** When news dropped that Season 4 of the anime would start off with a recap-filler episode like Season 3, the fandom was predictably frustrated. However, when the episode actually aired, many were pleasantly surprised with it. The recap aspect of the episode is fairly understated, and the plot has some nice worldbuilding and fun slice of life moments that the fanbase enjoys. Adding to this, the anime original character introduced in the episode, Taneo Tokuda, is incredibly likable and interesting, with many hoping that he will be brought back in the future.
** A significant portion of the fans disliked Aizawa for expelling dozens of students simply for failing his Quirk test, giving them black marks on their records, and leading to some FridgeLogic. Chapter 254 reveals that [[spoiler:while Aizawa did actually expel those students, he also re-enrolled them, and the last class he expelled is still at U.A., making the entire exercise a harsh but fair "rational deception" that Aizawa is known for]].
** The original name for the Doctor, Maruta Shiga, was very controversial, particularly in China and South Korea, due to its unintended connection to an experiment done by Imperial Japan towards those from those two regions during World War II. Horikoshi swiftly apologized for this and changed the name to Kyudai Garaki, a name that retains the original's similarity to Shigaraki ([[spoiler:as in, All For One's surname]]) without the problematic "Maruta" reference.
** A long-lasting complaint in the fandom was the fact that Bakugo would not acknowledge that his bullying and mistreatment of Midoriya was wrong or apologize for it. Chapter 284 has him [[spoiler:admitting to All Might, though not to Midoriya, that in some way, taking part in Midoriya's training of the One For All is his way to atone, and that he realizes his bullying of Midoriya came from a place of fear that Midoriya was better than him.]] Chapter 322 takes it a step further. [[spoiler:As he and the other Class 1-A students find Midoriya, Bakugo reminds him of what he said about winning together when he saved Midoriya from Shigaraki, and then fully admitted his bullying of Midoriya was wrong from the start, and fueled by his inferiority complex, which was broken down by his first year at U.A. and all he endured. Finally, while he acknowledges that it won't change anything, he bows his head and apologizes for everything.]]
** Mineta has long been TheScrappy of the series for being a one-note pervy character who we're constantly told is intelligent with nothing really to back it up. In Season 5, he has less pervy scenes, and he actually creates strategies and analyzes his opponents.
** A recurring criticism was that, for allegedly being the heroine of the series, [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter Uraraka]] was often left with little to do. Both manga and anime fans would get catharsis in different ways, with the anime emphasizing her being the one to help Midoriya when Blackwhip went nuts as well as taking down half of Class 1-B's team, while the manga gives her an amazing moment [[spoiler:where she gives an impassioned speech to a crowd of rioters, getting them to see heroes as people too and let Midoriya come back to U.A. while also breaking Midoriya's emotional dam in the process and getting him to finally stop running]]. Both moments were praised by fans and are considered to be highlights of their respective arcs.

* BeamMeUpScotty: It's easy to think that, with how often the fandom perpetuates the idea, that Midoriya was given the InSeriesNickname of "Problem Child" by Aizawa, and is called such constantly. However, Aizawa only ever calls him that ''once'', specifically before the raid on the Shie Hassaikai, more as a term of endearment while telling Midoriya he'd watch out for him since he ''knows'' how Midoriya tends to get into trouble while trying to help.

Per TRS, this was renamed to Incidental Multilingual Wordplay and moved to Trivia

* IncidentalMultilingualWordplay: Shota Aizawa's Quirk comes from his eyes, and the first syllable of his last name, "Ai," is pronounced identically to the English word "eye."
