Trivia / Mrs. Munger's Class

Go To

  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Mrs. Munger is voiced by OSM executive producer Peter Hastings.
  • Descended Creator: Sorta. The picture for Mahoot was a 6th grade school photo of co-creator Eric Mahady, presumably the rest of the photos were from his sixth grade classmates.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Naturally being sued out of existence means the show can never be released officially anywhere, but fortunately Disney doesn't seem to care about keeping it off the Internet either.
    • Tim Maloney also has an unofficial Mrs. Munger's Class DVD for sale on his website, which also includes all of the Centerville segments and the Mrs. Munger TV pilot.
  • Recycled Set: The assets of the rest of the school from the TV pilot, including the hallways, lockers and cafeteria, would be reused and repurposed for Centerville.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: The photo manipulation and distortion wasn't enough to stop a class-action lawsuit by the teacher and four of the students whose likenesses were used in the series. Almost immediately after they filed the suit against Disney in December 1998, the shorts were pulled.
  • What Could Have Been: According to one OSM animator on YouTube, ABC loved the Mrs. Munger's Class shorts and wanted to do a primetime version. But that didn't happen because of the aforementioned lawsuit.
    • To elaborate, animator Tim Maloney explained in a comments section that the producers would have been more than happy to negotiate with those people for the use of their likenesses - the show was just that popular (both with viewers and network execs), and ABC wanted way more out of it than the mere minute-long segments. Maloney even mentioned that the people would likely still be receiving royalty checks to this day.
