• Outdated by Canon: Mended was published a few months before the English release of Pokémon 4Ever. It's unknown if the writer knew much of the film but it seems they didn't. It's mentioned that Oak looked a lot like Ash as a child and had similar hair color to him. While Sammy does look a bit like Ash, it's a stretch to call them similar looking. The hair color thing could be explained by Oak's hair darkening by college.
