- Colbert Bump: The series suddenly received a surge of interest in the West thanks to its inclusion in Super Robot Wars X, which also led to it receiving a page on This Very Wiki and even greenlit another installment despite the last installment not working that well due to a Sequel Gap (as a warning, the 2020 installment has a longer Sequel Gap).
- No Export for You
- Due to the series' kanji-heavy Theme Naming, terminology, and close relations to Chinese mythological roots, the Mashin Hero Wataru Series was one of the only projects to have an exclusive sole-export to Chinese-speaking regions - China, Hong Kong and Taiwan; this led to the franchise receiving widespread popularity within those areas during the mid-1990s.
- Meanwhile, the West's only exposure to Wataru was the famous Keith Courage in Alpha Zones for the TurboGrafx-16, as well as Super Robot Wars X.
- Partially averted as of November 2019 with the announcement that the Bandai Spirits Youtube channel will upload the first dozen episodes of all three prior seasons of the anime starting with the original with English subtitles included.
- Official Fan-Submitted Content: Given Himiko's endless possibilities of offense, a couple of her ninjitsu were fan-submitted ideas turned canon, which was a lot of fun for Sunrise and their audience.
- The Original Darrin: The yellow EX-man was voiced in the first anime by Konami Yoshida, but was later played by Yumi Touma in Wataru 2. However, Yoshida was given the role back for Seven Spirits.
- Role Reprise: The 2020 installment saw the return of the show's whole main cast, despite the gigantic Sequel Gap (though they did also reprise when the series got into Super Robot Wars X).
