Trivia / Mark Chesnutt

Go To

  • Black Sheep Hit: His biggest chart hit was a cover of Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing", which is curiously an example for the original artist as well.
  • Chart Displacement: His most famous song is "Bubba Shot the Jukebox", which only got to #4.
  • Creative Differences: Wings was produced by Tony Brown because Chesnutt had a disagreement with longtime producer Mark Wright over what sound to pursue. He reunited with Wright for Thank God for Believers.
  • Creator Backlash: He supposedly hated the fact that he ever cut "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing", and he seems to hold a similar disdain for his poppier Self-Titled Album.
  • What Could Have Been: Both he and Garth Brooks recorded "Friends in Low Places" around the same time, but it was Garth's version that got to be not only a single, but also one of the defining country songs of The '90s. What would have changed had Mark released his version instead?
