Trivia / Mario Kart: Super Circuit

  • Blooper: Outside of Japan, the preview image of Sunset Wilds removes the Shy Guys' headdresses and face paint. But perhaps due to an oversight, the Shy Guys in the actual course still have their faces painted.
  • Dummied Out:
    • Multiplayer is inaccessible if you're playing on the Nintendo 3DS due to it not being supported. The Nintendo Switch version however allows for both the standard Multi-Pak play and also preserves the pared down Single-Pak play option.
    • The battle courses from Super Mario Kart are hidden within the code, but can't be accessed without hacking. The track seen during the award ceremony cutscene is also a fully functional course, but is inaccessible.
  • The Other Darrin: All releases of the game use the Japanese voice tracks from Mario Kart 64, meaning that Luigi and Wario are voiced by Julian Bardakoff and Thomas Spindler respectively, instead of Charles Martinet, who redubbed them for the western releases of 64.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Pre-release screencaps show that the characters were originally going to be Super-Deformed.
    • The Banana Bunch, Golden Mushroom, and Fake Item Box items were going to be in the game.
    • The four Battle Courses from Super Mario Kart exist in the data but were ultimately unused.
    • An official Chinese translation was leaked on the Internet in 2019 from a prototype cartridge that was sent to the Chinese government for approval. It is not yet known if Nintendo cancelled the official release or if the game was rejected by the government.
