Development Hell: Chapter 3 was stuck in development hell for 3 years until it was finally finished. Chapter 4 remained in development hell for several years until it was abandoned for the Continuity Reboot.
What Could Have Been: The game was originally planned to last 8 chapters, but only the first 3 were ever made. After finishing Chapter 3, Tobias was burnt out on the game and did not touch it for years (during which he made Clarence's Big Chance), after which he found himself unable to create Chapter 4 and decided instead to reboot the series. The Steam Re-Release Extras contain a .pdf file of all of Tobias' notes on how the series would progress. In Chapter 4, Steele would've been the main antagonist, Deugan and Emela would've rejoined the party alongside previous antagonists Muriance and the World's Saviours, and Belfan would get nuked by Gaspar at the end, and Chapter 5 onward would be a spacefaring adventure of liberating various worlds from Ansharian control,with Rohoph taking full control of Mardek after Anu and Zaephros were defeated, becoming the final boss.
