Trivia / Leif Garrett

Go To

  • Channel Hop: Went from being signed to Atlantic Records in 1976 to being signed to Scotti Bros in 1978. It ended up being one of the biggest mistakes of his professional career as he still doesn't have the rights to the music he recorded with them. He ended up starting his own label, Tongue and Groove Records, in the mid-1990s.
  • Creator Backlash: Despite openly saying he doesn't care for "I Was Made For Dancin'", he's still known to frequently perform it live for the sake of his former teenage fanbase attending his concerts for nostalgia. His dislike of the song has caused him to sometimes reappropriate it is an acoustic ballad or a straight-up rock song.
  • Creator Breakdown: His legal troubles have unfortunately earned him more airtime than his creative endeavours in the past few decades.
  • Development Hell: Was writing a memoir as far back as 2010. In 2018 he signed with a literary agent and rewrote it with Chris Epting before finally releasing it in November 2019.
  • Non-Actor Vehicle: Despite being a professional actor from the age of five, most of his appearances on TV and film were designed to be this due to the general public’s common perception of him as a pop singer.
  • Reclusive Artist: Though not properly reclusive by any means (he's rather outgoing and open to talking to fans), it took him until around April 2015 to take to social media. That's what qualifies in The New '10s as reclusive ... Right?
  • Screwed by the Network / Screwed by the Lawyers: Scotti Bros did not give Leif the rights to his own music, leaving very little in the way of royalties for him.
