  • Actor Allusion: Will Ferrell, whose character in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was named Wildlife Marshal Willenholly in a Shout-Out to the original series, here starring in a loose adaptation thereof. One has to wonder if he was cast solely for this reason.
  • Box Office Bomb: Budget, $100 million. Box office, $69,548,641.
  • Creator Backlash: Ron Meyer, head of Universal, would later on call the movie "crap" in an interview.
  • Advertisement:
  • Creator Killer: Brad Silberling wouldn't direct another film for 8 years and that film ultimately went straight to video. He has managed to find success as an executive producer for television though.
  • Star-Derailing Role: Though Will Ferrell would continue acting in the ensuing decade, this role put a dent in his reputation as a leading man. Most of his roles since have been as a co-star or voiceover.
