• What Could Have Been:
  • In 2005, leaked boxart of the theme's prototypes show the same lineup of sets with drastically different designs. Most notably, the Wyvern and Fafnir Dragons were originally a Kraken and a Troll, respectively, which would've added more variety to the monsters. The viking minifigures also had a physical Beard of Barbarism neckpiece, instead of only having printed beards on their faces.
  • LEGO Vikings was originally planned to be exclusively sold in the European market, while North America would only receive LEGO Dino Attack instead. Fortunately, due to complaints from both sides of the Atlantic, Vikings saw worldwide release and Europe received Dino 2010.
