Trivia / Katekyō Hitman Reborn!

Go To

  • Acting for Two:
    • More like acting for four, Kenjiro Tsuda voices TYL!Lambo and his adult counterpart, Spanner, Lampo and Romeo (Bianchi's ex-boyfriend).
    • Takashi Kondo voices Hibari, Alaude and Fon. Funny since all of them look alike.
    • Hidenobu Kiuchi voices boxing lovers Knuckle and Ryohei.
    • Toshiyuki Toyonaga voices both Kakimoto Chikusa and Irie Shouichi.
    • Meanwhile, Toshinobu Iida voices Mukuro Rokudo and Mochida.
  • Amateur Cast: The main characters are voiced by relatively unknown or amateur voice actors at the time of airing, which is pretty obvious in the first episodes. Contrast that to some of the side characters, who has been voiced by seasoned voice characters like Kenjiro Tsuda and Daisuke Namikawa.

  • Colbert Bump: While the series is extremely popular in its home country and some parts of the west (and the yaoi fangirls), it is through the video games Jump Super Stars and J Stars Victory VS that most people come across Tsuna and the series. Hell, Tsuna is even one of the most requested characters in the Jump Force as DLC.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Tsuna, Fran, and Basil's voice actresses.
  • Fan Nickname:
    • Apparently, "Hibird" started as a fan nickname, but the author liked it so much it became canon. It's even lampshaded:
Reborn: Apparently, it's now called Hibird.
Tsuna: Who made up such a name?!
    • Bel's haters call him "Belwhore."
    • Mukuro is called Pineapple Hair for obvious reasons, "Mukuro-samba" (a play on "Mukuro-sama" and a reference to "Kufufu no Fu -- Boku to Keiyaku", where at a point he talks about getting trapped in an eternal samba. The thigh-high boots his TYL self wore are sometimes nicknamed "hooker boots". Also in Fandom, Mukuro is "Perverted Pineapple" for obvious reasons concerning Tsuna and everybody else he's ever attacked. His assigned number does not help either.
      • Used by Flan... Mukuro does NOT like it.

    • There are fans who called Kyoko "Miss Sparkles" due to how she always had the sparkling effect when smiling.
    • Tuna-Tsuna. Apparently the cast is very fishy, since we also have Squalo(Italian for "Shark"), "Octupus Head"(Ryohei's Canon Nickname for Gokudera), and of course Yamamoto's sushi restaurant.
      • Vongola is Italian for "Clam"
    • Mukurou-Glo Xinia's owl box weapon that is possessed by Mukuro. A "u" is added to differentiate between the two.
    • Let's not forget the number/letter code. Usually used for shipping. The Reborn Wiki has an extensive list if you get confused.
  • Genre Shift: Katekyō Hitman Reborn! becomes an action series. This is not clear from the beginning. And the main character is still fighting with a pair of woolen mittens secreted by a shapeshifting chameleon long after the series stumbled into Serious Business territory. Magical pacifiers are also involved in the plot and are not played for laughs either. Not to mention that the Italian mafia apparently hires magical baby hitmen to go train their future boss... Or that it's a common staple for mafia bosses to be able to fly around shooting flames out of their hands and Tetratrillions of worlds. So yeah...
  • I Knew It!:
    • What the entire fanbase was thinking when the Simon Family was revealed to be Big Bad of the Inheritance Ceremony arc. People predicted that the Simon would have Earth-based flames, too.
    • People who had read the manga predicted Daemon Spade's role as the Big Bad in the anime's Inheritance Trials arc.
    • Hibari is the one who represented Fon in the Representative Battle.
    • Almost everyone was betting on Uncle Kawahira coming back to be revealed as Checker Face.
  • Image Source: Handwraps of Awesome.
  • Name's the Same: Shamal the female doctor Shamal of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha.
  • No Dub for You: The series was never picked up for a dub. Even when Discotek picked it up for Blu-Ray distribution in the west, it was only subtitled.
  • No Export for You: The localized manga went as far as the near the first half of the future arc before stopping due to low sales, leaving the rest of the series untranslated.
  • The Other Darrin: In the anime, Dino was voiced by Kenta Kamakari, but after Episode 34 he was replaced by KENN.
  • Playing Against Type: Kiuchi Hidenobu, whose more famous roles include the composed and usually taciturn Hei of Darker Than Black and the thoughtful, considerate hero of Dr. Tenma in Monster, plays Sasagawa Ryohei TO THE EXTREME!
  • Portmanteau Series Nickname: The series's full title is Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn! but fans shorten it to Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, KHR or simply Reborn!
  • Relationship Voice Actor:
  • Sailor Earth: Since the series only focuses on the top mafia alliances and the Vongola is noted to have lots of enemies, one can easily whip up their own family. Make up some Italian-like name, then fill it with many original characters and assign them their flame properties, and viola! you have your own Mafia Famiglia.
    • Actually having more than seven rings and seven colors was sorta canon, as said in one of the games, but there was a specific reason why the topic of an eighth ring isn't touched upon. It's the Flame of the Night, which only the Vindice can touch upon. And it seems to be so powerful that Daemon Spade thought that if he had it, he could beat the combined forces of Earth and Sky.
    • Since one canon character has a power over parallel universes, one can even an entire new universe made of original characters.
  • She Also Did: Akira Amano, the manga artist for the series, would also do the original character designs for the anime Psycho-Pass.
  • Talking to Himself:
    • Alaude has the same voice actor as Hibari and Fon. Comes with looking very identical with each other...
    • Knuckle has the same voice actor as Ryohei.
  • The Wiki Rule: Has a wiki here.
