• Box Office Bomb: Budget, $195 million (production alone), $295 million (marketing included). Box office, $197,687,603.
• Duelling Movies: With Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, another action adventure movie based on a classic fairytale. Hansel & Gretel won quite definitively, at least in box office terms (critically, Jack got a middling recetion as opposed to Hansel & Gretel being absolutely ravaged).
• Fake Brit:
  • The Scot Ewan McGregor is faking (painfully posh) English as Elmont (counts as this world is shown to be England in the past).
  • Stanley Tucci, the only non-British cast member, adopted a British accent to fit in. He said he had long wanted to perform with a British accent, and this film gave him the chance to do so.
• Follow the Leader: This film is basically the family-friendly Hollywood version of Attack on Titan.
• Hey, It's That Place!: Scenes were shot at Puzzlewood in the Forest of Dean near Coleford, Gloucestershire. Puzzlewood, which features unusual tree and rock formations, has previously been used for filming of Doctor Who and Merlin and is said to have inspired J. R. R. Tolkien to write The Hobbit.
• Saved from Development Hell: The film first started development in 2005 with D.J. Caruso being hired to direct.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Jamie Campbell Bower was considered for the role of Jack, but he was unable to audition due to a broken ankle injury suffered while filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
  • The filmmakers have mentioned in an interview that there was at one point female giants in early stages of the script, but were cut out mainly because the director didn't want to have Jack kill any of them.
  • Adelaide Kane, Lily Collins and Juno Temple auditioned for the role of Isabelle.
  • Aneurin Barnard and Alex Pettyfer were considered for the role of Jack.
