• Adored by the Network: TBS gave the show an unprecedented 100 episode greenlight before the first season had aired and were quick to approve additional seasons, with Season 6 an 8 in particular being given extra long episode orders. BET was also fast in greenlighting new seasons once the show was revived on their network.
• Channel Hop: From TBS to BET starting with Season 9.
• Dawson Casting: Season 8 and 9 had an eight year gap in production but in-universe only a short though unspecified amount of time has passed and the characters are portrayed as being barely older than when they were when Season 8 ended. This trope is most notable with Doc Shaw and China Anne McClain as Shaw was 28 when Season 9 aired and McClain was 22 but both are still playing a college student and a young teen respectively.
• What Could Have Been: C.J. was originally going to be Curtis's and Ella's son rather than their nephew.
