- Cross-Dressing Voices:
- Hikaru and Akira are both voiced by women in the original Japanese dub. (Not unusual since they're both young boys.)
- The Latin American Spanish dub did the same, except that, while Hikaru is voiced by a woman, Sai, an adult man, is also voice by a female voice actress too, note while Akira is voiced by a male instead.
- Late Export for You: The animated adaptation didn't reach Latin America until 2023, a whopping twenty-three year wait from its original Japanese broadcasting.
- Portmanteau Series Nickname: "Hikago".
- The Red Stapler: The series revived interest in Go among young people when it had previously been perceived more of a pastime for the elderly.
- Swan Song: In the Latin American Spanish dub, this was the final voice acting role Ale Delint (as Sai) did as a female voice actress and also his final role as a professional one, as he retired from voice acting in order to undergo to gender reassignment therapy during July of 2023.
