• Follow-Up Failure: The Closer I Get bombed critically and commercially, which (coupled with the record label he was signed to folding at the end of the 90s) led him to start his own label and release music independently for more than a decade.
• Reclusive Artist: He is known to be very reclusive and insular when he's not touring, to the point that his official page on The Other Wiki (and other sources) claimed that he had died in 2010. His friends also referred to the tour to promote Skyscraper National Park as the "Hayden's Not Dead Tour".
