Trivia / Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

• Lying Creator: In a roundabout way. Players datamine the game and go through the files to find information on future content. Allegedly, they found files labelled as being about Rowan's birthday in year 6. The developers are aware of the practice and deliberately used it as a Code Name for the plot of killing off Rowan.
• Role Reprise: Zoë Wanamaker returns as the voice of Madam Hooch for the first time since 2001, having left the film series due to a pay dispute.
• What Could Have Been: The Player Character's brother Jacob was named William in the beta.
  • Penny Haywood was originally considered to be the main character of the game.
  • There is a Celestial Ball image from a convention with a more realistic art style and different-looking dresses for Penny and Merula. Penny made it to a model in the game files that is nearly identical to final release, but with a golden wreath on her head instead of the crown braid.
  • Apparently models of Tulip have been found wearing essentially blue recolours◊ of the three First Date dresses a female MC can choose. It is possible that the developers considered having her wear one of those to the date and letting players choose one out of the other two dresses, but ultimately all three are available to MC while Tulip appeared in First Date wearing her normal school outfit, which certainly didn't help her popularity and she was subsequently cut from Valentine's Day.
  • There were files of voiced lines for Penny and Merula found back in 2018, but they were not implemented. So far, only teachers have any voiced lines.^note The lines spoken at chapter end are by Dumbledore. Most characters only have shrieks, laughs, and grunts. Molly and Arthur does have a "Yes" and a "Blast!" that reflects their dialogue, but not directly from it.
• Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: The writing team has seen some changes, possibly leading to this. The story borders on Kudzu Plot, with Aborted Arcs like sneaking into the ministry, and fancying Penny in the main story (likely due to fan backlash). Tulip was originally supposed to have a much larger role (and was the favourite character of the previous lead writer), but she is currently Demoted to Comic Relief.
• Word of God: A writer for the game revealed what the wand woods of some of the main characters are, and the minor backstories behind Rowan's and Tulip's wands. At some point he also compared Penny, Merula, and Tulip to Gwen, Felicia, and Mary Jane. But as Writing by the Seat of Your Pants above, this was from earlier days of the game.
