• Inspiration for the Work: Along with a family trip to a beach house at Crystal Beach, Texas, this artwork by Rarijack shipper LooknamTCN also served as a majority of the author's inspiration, leading to it being used as the cover art.
• Shrug of God: When asked why this was labelled as a Friendship is Magic fanfic rather than Equestria Girls, especially given Sunset Shimmer's cameo as Rarity's new girlfriend at the end, the author admitted he wasn't sure (and still isn't sure) which was the more appropriate label, considering how much of an Alternate Universe Fic the story is. Though he doesn't think it matters that much.
• What Could Have Been: Quite a few scenes and chapters were either altered or cut for time:
  • There was meant to be a whole chapter detailing Applejack's visit to the mainland and her family, before it got reduced to a few paragraphs of exposition.
  • There was to be a scene near the end better detailing Applejack's appreciation of Fluttershy, who was her primary support throughout the story and needed to be recognized as such.
  • The author originally wanted more scenes showcasing the exact relationship between Rarity and Sweetie Belle, with maybe a little more of their history revealed.
  • Applejack's stubborn refusal to acknowledge the truth of Rarity having to leave was originally going to lead to a far more drawn-own climax where Applejack actively sought to stop the mermaids from leaving the island.
