• Falsely Advertised Accuracy: The books' information says that the series was the alternative to a nonfiction book the author wanted to write about owls, and thus she attempted to include owls' natural history. By and large, it appears she was unsuccessful.
• What Could Have Been: The First Collier, The Coming of Hoole and To Be a King were meant to be a spin-off series called Legends of Ga'Hoole, but ended up being added to the main series with the prologue and epilogue tying them in to the previous books.
