  • In Memoriam: M. Lee Hathway was a huge fan of the game and played it for long time during its Early Access run. M. Hathway passed away before the final release of the game. The developers created the NPC solider "Zedlee" who was named after M. Hathway's character and served as a dedication to him. The story can be read here
  • The Other Darrin: In Ashes of Malmouth, Kasparov and Creed both have new voice actors. All their previous lines have also been redubbed.
  • Teasing Creator: Back when the arcanist was first shown, on its mastery screen players noted a button labeled Devotion. When players asked about what it was for they would only get playful trollish responses from Zantai, one of Crate's designers. He indulges in teasing the fanbase when asked about certain things.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • There was going to be two different paths to reach Homestead, but it wasn't implemented because of time and budget constrains. The final dialogues still implied you could take different routes. As a result, the bridge leading to the first path was broken forcing the player to go the other route. A later patch allowed you to take both paths, but only after you've gone through the unbroken path and repaired the bridge from the other side.
    • A PS4 port was planned, but no agreement could have been reached with Sony. Therefore, only the Xbox One will get a port to consoles.
  • Troubled Production: Played with. When production began, Crate Entertainment had no office and only two full time employees. Occasionally, some friends would come on their own free time to gave them a hand, but the progress was abysmally slow. After two years, they successfully secured funding through Kickstarter. Production then sped up and even though there were some problems here and there, things got a lot better when the game was released on Early Access.
