Trivia / Godzilla vs. Megaguirus

Go To

  • Bad Export for You: In the international print of the film used for Sony's transfers, the contrast is untimed, making the wires suspending the Megaguirus prop suddenly visible. This Special Effects Failure is not present in Japanese versions of the film.
  • Cross-Cast Role: Minoru Watanabe, a male stunt actor, plays the female Megaguirus.
  • Edited for Syndication: Along with GMK, Sony/Tristar created a 90 minute version of the film for airing on the Sci Fi Channel and some on-demand services. As one may guess, many subplots were trimmed or spliced out for time, but Tristar also felt the need to censor some of Kudo's dialogue, resulting in this gem.
  • What Could Have Been: Originally Sony had licensed this film with the hope of giving it a theatrical release in the United States.
    • It began as a direct sequel to Godzilla 2000 and the middle part of a planned trilogy, however when developing the story it was decided it would be easier to just set it in a separate universe.
