Stanleyhasregretted how she designed the Sorceress' Darkwing form as being naked and with exposed breasts because of how inappropriate it is for the comic and how she wasn't aware of that effect when she designed it.
She hates the Chosen One aspect of the premise, although she still has to go with it since it's grounded into the story already.
Promoted Fanboy: Author/artist Evan Stanley was eventually hired as writer and artist of the officialSoniccomics thanks to her Awesome Art. She was presented this opportunity by simply being a Fandom VIP because of this comic and entering a fan contest in 2010 (surprisingly, she was only 17-18 and didn't even win). To reflect this, she has called herself a "professional Sonic Fan" and her Tumblr blog was named Professional Sonic Fan from 2012 to 2016.
Schedule Slip: While there have been many major schedule slips for various reasons, especially during issue 10 due to college, the schedule slips for issue 18 are insane, with the cover only coming over a year after the last page of issue 17, and page 12 (albeit uncolored) coming nearly a year after page 11. The former is confirmed to be because of Stanley's job as animator and storyboard artist of Concrete Genie and freelance work on Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW). The latter is confirmed to be because of her job as artist and lead writer of IDW Sonic, as well as other freelance work.
The comic was going to be set in Station Square, but Stanley reckoned it would take place in Peru in real life, which is too far and Stanley isn't good at Spanish in the first place.
Evan Stanley has admitted that Vennie and Sicily were originally supposed to die and go Ax-Crazy, respectively, but her new co-writer, Okida, convinced her to give them better fates.
Stanley considered revamping her Original Characters from her previous stories before Ghosts, but she couldn't think of a right place for them. She has also made several original characters and Alternate Universe counterparts of canon characters which are never going to show up in the comic, such as Marine the Conspiracy Theorist.
Issue 15 originally did not have Silver and Blaze holding hands in one panel. Evan Stanley changed this when she saw a fan's idea of Ghosts of the Future Silver and Blaze “holding hands while appearing threatening”.
The first Hybrids were created by the Ancient Echidnas through gradual Bio-Augmentation of their members. The ancient Hybrids later went nearly extinct (the only ones left are Knuckles and maybe the Babylon Rogues).
This is when the Darker and EdgierBackstory Horrors kick in. In modern times, Project Shadow began with the first modern experiment to create a Hybrid. The Project continued with G.U.N.'s breeding program, in which they manufactured artificially-created sperm mutated with Chaos Energy and recruited human women, many of whom were poor and from developing countries, to bear the superpowered Hybrids as for G.U.N. to use as Tyke Bombs. Project Shadow was shut down due to the program's exposure to the public and fears of the threat that the increasingly and extremely mutated Hybrids might pose. The humans discriminated against the Hybrids for a long time, and Sonic's heroism helped bring down the Hybrid discrimination. (In fact, Sonic, his friends (definitely not including Shadow), and the SatAM characters were the original modern Hybrids.
Additionally, Hybrids are born early like marsupials if through live birth, or from eggs otherwise, and while romantic relationships between Hybrids are more common, romantic relationships between humans and Hybrids aren't taboo and they can still have children.
Sonic is Japanese-Hawaiian. He was also born without a name, only a government-issued ID (he apparently was a result of the God-awful breeding program and grew up in the foster care system run by G.U.N., where he was bullied by others for his then-extremely-rare Amazing Technicolor color. He was given the nameNicholas, Nicky for short, at the orphanage and was only given his current name by Tails. Sonic and Shadow are fluent in Spanish because they hid in Latin America for a while (in Shadow's confirmed case, about a century).
Nicole was created aboard the Ark by Professor Gerald Robotnik and was there for what happened to Shadow.
Professor Von Schlemer and Gold the Tenrec, official characters in Stanley's "The Silver Age" arc of Sonic Universe, will not be appearing as major characters. They'd most likely be in a cameo.
Time in the Sol Dimension runs faster than in the "GOTF-verse", thus its present time is 200 years more than the present time in the GOTF-verse. This is why GOTF-verse Blaze was born in Silver's time period.
Ghosts, or Chaos Spirits, are not immortal, yet they can last a few thousand years in general. When nearing their end, they start slowly, very slowly, turning into Soulless Shells, losing their memories, then sense of identity, and then physical identity, before losing their sentience, and finally dissolving back into Chaos Energy when their time is complete. Their period can be shortened by repeated mental stress (a Despair Event Horizon can "kill" them) and injury (known as "peeling" or "fraying"). A creation of a Chaos Spirit usually destroys the physical body to prevent Doppelgänger situations, but Tikal and Vennie still have them. Tikal can't wake up in her physical body again because the brain's higher functions are permanently damaged.
Tails and Amy were part of the last generation mass-produced by the breeding program and were adopted by human families. Sally Acorn, led a Hybrids right activist group, whom her SatAM friends Bunnie, Antoine D'Coolette, and Rotor the Walrus were part of, when Hybrids started to integrate into human society. Sonic supported them and their cause and even had a crush on Sally.
Chaos Spirits can only be created through a certain Chaos Control ritual (Sonic, Tikal, Antique) or dying while filled with Chaos Energy (Vennie, Scourge), thus their existence is exceptionally rare.
Silver the Hedgehog and his family come from Brookdale, Santa Cruz County, California and the New Chaotix mansion is located in State Route 1 near Half Moon Bay. Note Evan Stanley grew up in Santa Cruz.
Write What You Know: Several elements are based on Evan Stanley's life. For example:
Silver, his sisters, and Blaze are all homeschooled and Stanley was homeschooled until high school.
Silver is interested in evolutionary anthropology, which Stanley is also highly interested in.
Issue 10 is titled "Masakatsu Agatsu" (spelled as "Masaka Agatsu" on the cover), which means "True Victory; Self Victory" in Japanese and is one of the concepts of aikido, in which Stanley has taken classes in for years). In fact, aikido influenced Evan Stanley's philosophical and spiritual beliefs which also influence this supernatural-themed comic.
Stanley broke her dominant hand at the age of 11 and didn't get it set or had pain medication for a few days. This pain is really reflected in the issue 17 incident, when Silver gets his hands impaled by Metallix.
