Trivia / Gekibo: Gekisha Boy

Go To

  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Neither Gekibo 1 (or its PS1 port) or 2 have seen re-releases on modern systems, and the games fetch quite a bit on the secondhand market (especially Gekibo 1, which usually goes for at least $200 on eBay), leaving emulation the most accessible option for most folks who want to play the game.
  • No Export for You: None of the three games have ever been released outside of Japan. It is usually thought to be because of their sometimes naughty content and especially because of how many references they make. The first game in particular contains so many copyrighted cameos, getting the rights for all of them would have been a total nightmare.
    • The second game was almost localized, being given the name Polaroid Pete for the PAL version and popped up in some gaming magazines. The game noticeably uses fewer direct references, likely to preemptively avoid copyright issues. In the end this version was canceled with little fanfare, however a mostly translated version of it was found and can be played via emulation.
