  • Blooper: Due to a mastering error, "Supper's Ready" abruptly goes slightly flat from 14:15 to 15:40. The Definitive Edition remaster in 1994 fixed this issue by simply speeding up the relevant portion to match the rest of the song, with the 2007 remix following suit.
  • Technology Marches On: What are those 'Dial-A-Program Services' that the lyrics of "Get 'Em Out By Friday" say are a thing in 2012? On demand and streaming services come quite close, and dial-up internet had already been and gone by that point too.
  • What Could Have Been: Genesis cycled through a number of producers before finally settling on David Hitchcock. The band originally wanted Van der Graaf Generator producer John Anthony to handle the album, only for him to bail out due to how slow the material was progressing. Afterwards, they hired Bob Potter, only for them to fire him due to Creative Differences, with Potter disliking Genesis' style and singling out the Mellotron intro to "Watcher of the Skies" as too imitative of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Then they hired Bob Marley engineer Tony Platt, only to drop him too due to further disagreements. Only after this did they hire Hitchcock.
