  • Black Sheep Hit: "Wonderful", their most successful song, sounds quite tame in comparison to the band's usual dry jangle pop with snarky lyrics.
  • Chart Displacement: "Wonderful" was the only song from them to make the Top 40 of the Hot 100. "Santa Monica", probably their most well-known song, was ineligible for that chart because back when it was released, you had to release a song as a single for it to be eligible to chart on the Hot 100.
  • One-Hit Wonder: Their only real hit was "Wonderful".
  • Reality Subtext: "Heartspark Dollarsign" was based on prejudice Art Alexakis faced from dating a black woman, and "Heroin Girl" was about Art's friend's sister dying of a drug overdose.
