• Enforced Method Acting: An in-universe example in Reserved for the Cat — when Jonathan and Ninette are practicing a new trick for Jonathan's act, he doesn't bother to tell her the flames she will see (while locked in a box) are only illusions because he wants a nice convincing scream out of her. He then learns what being kicked by a ballerina feels like, and agrees to never pull this on Ninette again.
• What Could Have Been: The original plot for The Silver Bullets of Annie Oakley would have involved Giselle from the book From a High Tower being hired for Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and helping Annie Oakley and her husband Frank Butler learn about their elemental magic. However, Mercedes Lackey then realized that it wouldn't have fit the timeline and so had to come up with a replacement character.
