Trivia / Dungeons & Daddies

Go To

  • Acting for Two: As standard for tabletop game podcasts, Anthony Burch plays all NPCs as the DM.
  • Actor-Shared Background: Matthew Arnold is a dad in real life, which he loves to remind people in the intros.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices:
    • Beth May plays the dad Ron Stampler. Occasionally spoofed when Ron talks about women.
    • Ashly Burch plays the dad Dennis, as well as Scam Likely's brother Mark Likely. This is eventually subverted by Scam referring to Mark as his "brother-slash-sister", implying that Mark actually has an Ambiguous Gender.
  • Method Acting: Anthony gargles a glass of water to simulate Willy speaking with a Slashed Throat.
  • Reality Subtext: As Matt Arnold is the only one in the group who actually has a child of his own, it comes as no surprise that his character is The Straight Man and the most naturally paternal.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: During Season 2, the crew learned that AEW wrestler Matt Menard had changed his ring name to "Daddy Magic," which the league had subsequently trademarked, legally barring the podcast from using the term in various types of merchandise. While they technically had a case to dispute it, since they'd been using the term for much longer, they quickly decided it wasn't worth the hassle (and that they'd probably lose anyway, given the vast legal resources of AEW).
  • Throw It In!: As a tabletop campaign, the show largely runs on this.
    • Elizabeth Warden (whose name was also generated by a spur-of-the-moment joke) is introduced as an elf, but after Beth mishears it as "elk", Anthony decides to make that canon.
  • What Could Have Been: In the season 1 aftershow, Freddie reveals that the ending he initially envisioned for Glenn was visiting Morgan's grave with Nick. The events of the series sent Glenn along a wildly different path, however.
