Go To

  • Acting for Two:
    • Linda Young voices both Frieza and Bardock's teammate Fasha. There’s also Dameon Clarke providing the voices of Borgos and Planthorr.
    • Chris Sabat as usual voices multiple characters such as Zarbon, Vegeta, and Nappa.
  • Anime First: For Bardock. The anime special was released in October 17, 1990 whereas in his first appearance in the manga was around June 1991.
  • Approval of God: Akira Toriyama liked Bardock enough to make him a Canon Immigrant. He also has stated that this is his favorite movie - and that it was the kind of story he "absolutely wouldn't draw".
  • Dueling Dubs:
    • Funimation released their dub to VHS and DVD in 2000, featuring a localized script and a musical score by Dale D. Kelly and licensed songs from artists like Sum 41, Saliva, and American Hi-Fi. It was reissued to DVD and Blu-ray in 2008 with the original Japanese music and a few voices re-recorded to better match their dub of the TV series (notably Nappa, Malaka, and the narrator).
    • AB Groupe released another English dub in 2003 for the European market under the title "The Father of Goku." While it has the usual bad performances like all the other "Big Green" dubs, it actually has a script that's more accurate to the original Japanese version. It also leaves the original soundtrack intact.
  • The Other Darrin: Son Gohan is voiced by Kinpei Azusa rather than Osamu Saka.
  • The Other Marty: The 2008 remastered version, while mostly the same as before, Christopher Sabat as Nappa is redubbed with Phil Parsons for consistency with the TV series. Chris Cason replaces Mark Britten as Malaka while Kyle Hebert replaces Dale D. Kelly as the Narrator.
