Trivia / Donovan

Go To

  • Typecasting: Donovan was nothing less than a shoo-in for the titular role in the 1972 adaptation of The Pied Piper. He also wrote the songs for the soundtrack of Brother Sun, Sister Moon, about St. Francis of Assisi, the "hippie" saint.
  • He Also Did: He sang co-lead vocals on the song "Billion Dollar Babies" by Alice Cooper. He was recording Cosmic Wheels in Morgan Studios at the same time that Alice Cooper were recording the Billion Dollar Babies album, and AC guitarist Michael Bruce suggested inviting Donovan to sing on the title track.
  • What Could Have Been: He was asked to play at the Monterey Pop Festival, but he was refused a visa to enter the United States because of a 1966 drug charge.
