• What Could Have Been:
  • There was supposed to be a character named Edward, a human and stern guest of the hotel. He would become the alien Gibbis, who was himself an exaggerated version of Edward.
  • Toby Whithouse envisioned Amy and Rory moving to a picturesque cottage, as part of the fairytale theme which Steven Moffat had woven into the Eleventh Doctor's era.
• Write What You Know: Toby Whithouse was inspired by a childhood vacation to a tacky 80s hotel, wanting to do something different than a regular mansion.
