Trivia / Doctor Who S11 E3 "Death to the Daleks"

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: Director Michael E. Briant felt this was the least interesting serial he worked on, that the story had nothing to hang on to and he didn't really know what the story was about.
  • Creator's Pest: It is believed that incoming script editor Robert Holmes came up with the title out of his dislike of the Daleks.
  • Missing Episode: Formerly. Until episode 1 was recovered in 1979, it was the most recent episode to be missing, and also the very last episode to be junked.
  • Prop Recycling: Most of the Dalek casings were from the 1960s (due to the inadequate casings produced for "Planet of the Daleks"), hence why the bodies are silver instead of the dark gray design used in all other Dalek stories from "Day of the Daleks" onward.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Exxilon was originally a jungle planet.
    • Originally, the Daleks escaped with the cure, but the humans worked with the Exxilons to set them back on the path to advancement and were given more of the cure in return.
    • This story originally didn't feature the Daleks.
    • Jill was originally conceived as The Squadette, the equivalent of an "Israeli girl soldier".
    • Nicholas Briggs revealed that he was asked to redub the Dalek voices for the DVD release, similar to what he did for "Day of the Daleks," but he refused, citing his fondness for the original performances.
  • Working Title: The Exilons and The Exxilons.
  • You Look Familiar: John Abineri (Richard Railton) was Van Lutyens in "Fury From the Deep" and General Carrington in "The Ambassadors Of Death".
