• Segata is the first combatant to come from an advertising campaign and the first Sega representative who isn't from the Sonic franchise.
• Bomberman cameos in the analysis as Segata's ability to make people explode (TWICE) was to advertise Bomberman.
• Raiden (the Shinto myth mentioned in the Raiden vs Thor episode, not the Mortal Kombat depiction) is mentioned again as a reference to how bizarre Japanese culture is to a western audience.
• Sonic appears and is mentioned multiple times in this episode, most prominently when Segata was shown losing to him in a martial arts tournament thousands of years into the future.
• This is the first Death Battle where neither contestant died. Instead, both contestant are so memetically immortal that they ended up destroying the very fabric of the universe.
• During the final blow between Chuck Norris and Segata Sanshiro, we get nods to five previous death battles: Scorpion vs. Ryu, the Pokemon Starter Battle Royale, Captain America Vs. Batman, Sol Badguy vs. Ragna the Bloodedge, and a new (sprite) scene for Goku Vs. Superman where Super Saiyan God Goku is fighting Superman.
• Chuck Norris and Segata Sanshiro's traits are vague, but their depictions in the duel make them appear to rival or surpass most other previous characters on the show in terms of raw power and speed including Kirby and Superman.
• Chuck Norris has fought against more previous combatants from different franchises at once than anyone else in the song Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny. The idea is that this army of fictional characters had no choice but to team up against someone as powerful as Chuck Norris; who effortlessly 'crushed Batman's head inbetween his thighs'. This army included Robocop, The Terminator, Darth Vader, Superman, and Every single Power Ranger.
• According to Chuck Norris fact #7: "Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee never actually fought offscreen. If they had, the universe would have imploded..." this is similar to this episode's ending.
• According to Chuck Norris fact #15: "Superman wears Chuck Norris pajamas..."
• Bruce Lee (the only person to (temporarily) kill Chuck Norris) reappeared in a DBX episode; fighting fictional characters directly influenced by Bruce.
