Trivia / DEATH BATTLE! S02E15 - Kirby VS Majin Buu

Go To

  • Kirby has beaten the similar 'Cute Nintendo' character Pikachu as the smallest combatant on the show, being canonically 8 inches (20.32 cm) tall. Also as mentioned in the preview, Kirby weighs so little that he can float and fly in midair like a balloon.
  • This is one of the first fights where an outside challenger directly interrupts the fight between the listed combatants. In this case, Kid Buu. Paying homage to the DBZ source material, Majin Buu loses control of his rage and releases his evil side, allowing Kid Buu to kill and replace him to continue the fight against Kirby.
  • This is the second fight from the Official DEATH BATTLE Fan Blog's wish list of fights they wanted to see to become an official battle (after Godzilla vs. Gamera). This was one of the honorable mentions.
  • Buu is one of the oldest combatants yet, being as old as the Dragon Ball universe itself. He also has killed entire galaxies, slaughtering more lifeforms than most other fighters on this show.
  • This episode was originally going to premiere on November 21st 2014, the day Super Smash Bros. for Wii-U was released in North America. Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of Super Smash Bros. is also the creator of Kirby.
  • Kirby is probably the most powerful combatant of season 2 along with Chuck Norris, with many of his traits rivaling even Superman (both can destroy planets with a single punch, both can survive planet destroying explosions and both can fly faster than light speed (if Kirby has his Warp Star)).
  • Throw Kirby is another transformation that has demonstrated superhuman strength when, in episode 94 of the anime, Kirby throws his opponent from popstar into outer space, sending the foe into a black hole.
  • The Screwattack video "16 Reasons We HATE Kirby with Evil Craig" had Screwattack directly acknowledge the backlash of this episode. The host Evil Craig denounced those 'little bitches' who flame against Kirby's victory.
