  • Creator Backlash: A very minor example, but Ignacio Pérez Dolset has noted that he should have added a few more tutorial missions and a gentler difficulty curve for Behind Enemy Lines.
  • Creator's Favorite: Most of the Pyro staff have a preference for the Green Beret amongst the cast, hence why he is not only the commando who appears in the most missions, but is also the Series Mascot.
  • Follow the Leader:
  • Franchise Ownership Acquisition: In July 2018, Kalypso Media, publisher of Tropico, acquired the rights to the Commandos IP.
  • Manual Misprint: Men of Courage manual says that the Springfield M1903 sniper rifle has unlimited ammunitions (in contrary to the German and Japanese sniper rifles). It doesn't.
  • * Model Dissonance: In Strike Force, several of the weapons look really different between first and third person while The Spy/Green Beret share hand models (with only a slightly dirtier texture for the Green Beret) in the PC/Xbox version of the game. (The PS2 version give Spy his own hand model.)
  • Recycled Script:
    • The premise of "Operation Icarus" from Behind Enemy Lines and "The Guns of Savo Island" from Men of Courage both have several similarities. Both missions are set during an exotic theater of World War II (respectively North Africa and Pacific campaigns), and both consist in infiltrating an Axis base to destroy a target, free a captured Allied pilot, and escape by stealing an enemy bomber.
    • Likewise, the Stalingrad arcs' plot of both Destination Berlin and Strike Force have several similarities. First, they feature elite operatives from the Western Allies military (respectively British Commandos and OSS operatives) sent to help the Soviets during the battle of Stalingrad along an American officer (NPC). He's a German mole and betrays the protagonists, leading them to be captured by the Germans. Later missions consists in rescuing the team then eliminating the traitor. Also, both have a solo mission in which you play as the team's sniper against a Major König Expy.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Each game appears to have a different voice cast, including Beyond The Call Of Duty, which is technically an Expansion Pack, albeit a standalone one.
    • Also the case for every game in French after Beyond the Call of Duty.
  • Sleeper Hit: The first game's commercial success was a complete surprise, totalling over 1.5 million units; the developers' target was 15,000.
  • What Could Have Been: There were once plans for a Sega Dreamcast port of Men Of Courage. Of course, because the Dreamcast didn't do so well, it never happened.
