• Career Resurrection: In 2005, creator Yuki Suetsugu's reputation took a massive hit when it was discovered that she had been plagiarizing art from Takehiko Inoue's works, forcing the offending manga series Eden no Hana to be pulled from distribution and Suetsugu to put her career on hold. Chihayafuru began its run two years later, and it would go on to become quite successful, winning the Manga Taisho and Kodansha Manga awards and being serialized for 15 years.
• The Other Darrin: By the time Sentai Filmworks produced their English dub of the third season, Midori Sakurazawa's voice actress on all of her previous appearances, Stephanie Wittels, had already moved from Houston to Los Angeles. As a result, in this season, Midori is voiced by Patricia Duran.
  • In the Japanese version of the third season, Yoshino Ohtori and Kenta Miyake took over for both Taeko Miyauchi and Dr. Harada respectively, due to their respective original voice actors, Toshiko Fujita and Unshō Ishizuka both passing away from cancer in 2018.
• Star-Making Role: For Asami Seto, which would pave way into more roles.
• Write What You Know: Suetsugu was part of a karuta club in high school, and the manga is based on her own experiences.
