- Dueling Works: The film was released around the same time of the more serious Quest for Fire, with many people noting the similarity of the two.
- In Memoriam: As a tribute to John Lennon, the film opens up with "One Zillion BC - October 9th". This was John's birthday, in addition to Sean Ono Lennon, who was 5 years old in 1980, born on October 9, 1975 when John turned 35 years old.
- Romance on the Set: You know how Atouk wants Lana? Well... he got her. Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach met on the set of this movie, and married a year later. They've been married ever since, 40 years as of 2021. Barbara Bach is actually on record complaining before shooting began that they got an ex-Beatle instead of a "top comedian like Dudley Moore." Guess they found out they got along!
