  • Dawson Casting: Terry Scott was twelve and a half years younger than Charles Hawtrey, who played his father, and three years older than Joan Sims, who played his mother.
  • Deleted Role: Stanley, a man in the jungle waiting for Dr. Livingstone.
  • Deleted Scene:
    • Professor Tinkle's opening lecture originally went on far longer and was used to introduce all the stars to the audience.
    • Lady Bagley trying to flirt with an oblivious Professor Tinkle:
Professor Tinkle: You're all of a tizz-wazz. I can feel your wazz tizzing from here!
    • Mr. Boosey and Upsidasi meeting Stanley:
      Stanley: Dr. Livingstone, I presume.
      Mr. Boosey: No. Bill Boosey.
Stanley: Oh. Sorry to have troubled you. (Beat) Oh, if you should happen to run into Mr. Livingstone, tell him Stanley would like to meet him, would you?
    • Professor Tinkle proposing to Lady Bagley before the group is about to be Stewed Alive.
    • Lady Bagley forcing Walter to stop participating in the mating rituals now that they are reunited.
  • DVD Commentary: With Carry On historian Robert Ross talking to Jacki Piper (June) and Valerie Leon (Leda).
  • Executive Veto: The estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs didn't approve of the title Carry On Tarzan or the use of a character called Jane, so both were changed - to "Carry On Jungle Boy" and "June".
  • Fake Nationality: Bernard Bresslaw as an African tribesman.
  • Hey, It's That Place!: June and Ug's home at the end of the film was first used as Yoki's owner's house in Carry On Regardless.
  • Hostility on the Set:
    • Terry Scott mostly ignored his Stunt Double Billy Cornelius.
    • Frankie Howerd and Kenneth Connor had clashed on a stage production prior to the film, and so a close eye was kept on both actors to avoid further incidents between the two throughout production.
  • On-Set Injury: Terry Scott hurt his knee during one of his stunts, and he and Jacki Piper were left with cuts on their legs from the harnesses they had to wear when swinging on the vines.
  • Playing Against Type: The weedy and effeminate Charles Hawtrey plays Walter Bagley, also known as "King Tonka", lover of many, who was the sole source of sex for the all-female tribe of the Lubi-Dubis for ten years.
  • Promoted Fangirl: On the DVD Commentary for Carry On Loving, Jacki Piper admits she had been a fan of the older Carry On films such as Carry On Nurse before she had got the part of June.
  • Real-Life Relative: Reuben Martin's (the Gorilla) wife played one of the Lubi-Dubis during the first mating ceremony.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Jim Dale told Peter Rogers that the role of Ug was rubbish and that he didn't want to do the film. After that, he wouldn't be brought back for another film until Carry On Columbus, 22 years later.
  • Stunt Double:
    • Joan Sims was set to do Lady Bagley's Shower Scene herself but got cold feet after feeling insecure about her body and a body double was brought in instead. Jacki Piper said later on:
Joan was roaring with laughter during her body shots. She had a stand-in for the body shot scenes and she kept saying "Doesn't my body look wonderful".
    • Billy Cornelius did many of Ug's stunts for Terry Scott.
  • Uncredited Role: Nina Baden-Semper as the female Nosha in Walter's story.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Jim Dale was offered the part of Ug, but found the script too "static", and turned the role down.
    • The role of Professor Tinkle was originally written for Kenneth Williams. He turned it down, as it clashed with filming for his TV show The Kenneth Williams Show. Williams was then offered the cameo role of Walter Bagley, which he turned down as being too small, which was in the end cast with Charles Hawtrey.
    • Angela Douglas was intended to play June, but decided to take a break from the Carry On films after her pregnancy.
    • In the original script June was called "Jane" and Professor Tinkle's first name was "Indigo" rather than Inigo.
  • Working Title:
    • The film was originally named Carry On Tarzan (had to be changed for copyright reasons), Carry On Jungle Boy and Carry On Up the Congo.
    • Other alternative titles considered and rejected were The Lust Continent and Don't Shoot Till You See the Whites of Their Thighs.
