Trivia / Care Bears: Unlock the Magic

• Acting for Two:
  • Dibble and Share Bear have the same actress, and have a few interactions with each other. Grumpy and Tenderheart also share the same voice actor (in season 1), as do Cheer, Robbie and Love-a-Lot. In the specials, Grumpy and Funshine (who both have several conversations with each other) share a voice actor, as do Bluster and Tenderheart (though Bluster did not appear in the Grumpy's Ginormous Adventure special). Togetherness and Wish Bear will also share a voice actor.
  • Dibble and Share Bear also share a voice actress in the Latin American Spanish (Lileana Chacón) and French (Estelle Darazi) dubs. In the Hebrew dub, not only do Dibble and Robbie share a VA, so do Tenderheart and Good Luck.
• Amateur Cast: Unlike previous Care Bears installments that used professional voice actors, most of the American voice cast for Unlock the Magic does not have extensive talent in voice acting. Nick Shakoour (Grumpy Bear) primarily works in live action, and Justin Michael (Funshine Bear) is a writer and director.
• Channel Hop: In the United States, the series first aired on Boomerang, who has always been the primary home to the series internationally, only for its parent channel Cartoon Network to move new episodes over to their own schedule as part of the new U.S. version of Cartoonito, in an attempt to help increase the show's viewership (due to Boomerang not being available on many cable providers). Boomerang still airs reruns for the time being, however.
• Content Leak: As no release date had been announced for when the specials would be released on Max, A YouTube channel named CareBearCentral leaked "Grumpy's Ginormous Adventure" and "The Quest for the Rainbow Stone" following their Canadian and UK airings. Needless to say, after two weeks of the former being uploaded, Cloudco took action and Little Dot Studios (the company that operates the franchise's official YouTube channel) copyright blocked the leak. Eventually, the latter special was taken down days after its leak which led to the channel getting terminated, although trying to access the channel now simply says it was "closed".
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: Ultimately resulted in this not even a few months into the show's run, as Boomerang released episodes of the show very slowly and sporadically, resulting in a lot of Short Run in Peru (read below); the show has yet to have a DVD release as well. Many episodes had to be recorded by fans from Tiny Pop in the UK (excluding two that for some reason, haven't aired at all over there).
• Missing Episode:
  • For reasons unknown (despite airing the rest of the series in full), Tiny Pop simply refuses to air the episodes "Rise and Funshine!" and "Road Trip", and thus even the existence of these episodes were an enigma for a while before Family Jr. and Tiji would step in.
  • The Hebrew dub skipped the episode "An Almost Eggless Easter".
  • Unfortunately, due to the fact that both are Christmas-themed episodes, the last two episodes of the series ("The Big Freeze" and "Return to Care-a-Lot", both known as "Snow-verload" when combined together) were not released on the Noggin app in Latin America with the rest of the episodes. They were deliberately skipped when the series aired on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. too, and were still skipped when the show was later added to Paramount+.
  • The planned CEE release of the series would've seen the episodes "A Yoorg Awakening" and "The Big Whifflesnooze" skipped for unknown reasons.
• No Export for You:
  • As of this writing, the show has only been dubbed into 15 languages other than English.
  • Boomerang Asia is not airing the show. They refused to comment when asked why. But then again, none of Boomerang's international feeds are airing the show for some unknown reason. This ultimately means the show is not available in the region outside of the Philippines and Singapore, where it's airing on a terrestrial channel.
    • Almost averted, as the show was set to premiere on Boomerang CEE in September 2022, but sadly subverted when the show being written off due to the Warner-Discovery merger (amidst other series and films on Cartoon Network and HBO Max) led to the premiere being cancelled and replaced with Mush-Mush and the Mushables less than a month before premiere. This also likely means that the show will never premiere on any other Boomerang feed.
• The Other Darrin: The Latin American Spanish dub received yet again another meta-cast shift: The dub went from Mexico, like the last series, to Venezuela. This is not the first time any animated production of the franchise being dubbed there, as it was dubbed previously in that country since the 90s during the Venezuelan-dubbed part of the Nelvana TV series and the Journey To Joke-A-Lot and Big Wish movies as well.
  • Nick Shakoour, who voiced Grumpy and Tenderheart Bear in season 1, was seemingly not available to record the specials. Therefore, Justin Michael (who also voices Funshine) replaced him as Grumpy, while Jason La Shea (who also voiced Bluster) replaced him as Tenderheart.
  • No Heart's original voice actor, Chris Wiggins, died before the character’s return. He is now voiced by Justin Michael, who also voices Funshine Bear. While Beastly's original voice actor, John Stocker, is still alive, he also has a new voice actor: Harry Chaskin, who also voices Bedtime Bear.
• Out of Order: Boomerang releases episodes based on what season of the year or holiday it is (or at least, they used to do that), causing all 52 episodes to have been released sporadically and out of order. Perhaps the biggest example of this is the series finale, "Snow-verload" (a combination of the last two episodes, "The Big Freeze" and "Return to Care-a-Lot") being released quite literally during the middle of the series, due to it being a Christmas-themed episode. Luckily, the show isn't too continuity heavy.
• Production Posse: As both shows were dubbed in Venezuela, a few actors from the Venezuelan Spanish dub of YooHoo & Friends also voiced some characters from the dub of this show. More specifically, the actor of the Easter Bunny also voiced Good Luck Bear, the actress of Mother Nature also voiced Dibble and Share, and more infamously, the voice actor for Robbie also voiced YooHoo himself.
• Screwed by the Network:
  • The series officially premiered in the U.S. on February 2019. The first (and only) season has 52 episodes. The series finished in the United States in December 2020, almost two years later. During all that, nearly every single episode aired first in various countries around the world, most notably the United Kingdom who got a majority of the episodes first.
  • Cable-wise, it's quite clear that Boomerang only aired what was released on the app. Eventually, its parent channel Cartoon Network tried to rescue the series by moving premieres over to their own schedule as part of the Cartoonito block in September 2021, and even expanded its airtime to every weekday (after originally only airing two days a week) in January 2022. However, the series was removed from CN proper in March 2022, with its timeslots on the American version of Cartoonito ironically replaced by the very series whose timeslots were taken over by more reruns of Care Bears - Baby Looney Tunes.
  • It has become very clear that Boomerang is uninterested in airing the show. None of their international feeds air it and instead it's aired on a mishmash of terrestrial channels and country-specific Pay TV channels worldwide.
  • After having renewed the series for 6 more specials, the show was written off due to the merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery, stalling the show's distribution (leaving at the least 11 dubs unreleased) and likely leaving the specials cancelled.
  • Subverted, as the first of the specials began airing in Canada in May 2023, with two others airing in June in the UK.
• She's a Man in Japan: Robbie is made a male in the Latin American Spanish dub, being referred to with he/him pronouns, having a male actor, and a male name (Rob).
• Short Run in Peru:
  • As the episodes slowly but surely got released digitally on the Boomerang app before being aired on TV, it makes sense that this would happen as Tiny Pop in the UK was airing episodes before they got released on the aforementioned app. This is an interesting case, as sometimes the app would release an episode before it got aired over in the UK, but this quickly didn't last as Tiny Pop basically finished the show before Boomerang did, with the exception of two episodes (see Missing Episode above). However, it's not the only network to have finished the show...
  • This has also happened with Tiji and the TFOU Max app in France, Family Jr. (English-speaking) and Télémagino (French-speaking) in Canada, the Noggin app, as well as Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. in Latin America, Hop in Israel, Yey! in the Philippines, and e.tv in South Africa. All the episodes used to also be avaliable on Starzplay in the Middle East.
• Unspecified Role Credit: The end credits sequence lists the voice actors for the main cast, as well as recurring characters Gus and Gareth, and minor character Love-a-Lot Bear. None of the other characters featured, like Mossy, Harmony Bear, Watchful Bear, E.B. Bunny, etc. have credited voice actors. Only Jason LaShea, who performs Bluster, has confirmed on Twitter that he voices Watchful.
